When Survival Skills Are Not Necessary

Just when you think you've adapted to a foster continent, there would always be something to shake your newfound comfort. Last weekend, Purple Turban, his mom, and I went to visit his grandmother at Skanör, a small town located at the southernmost tip of Sweden. While the place may still be Sweden, the familiarity of being in a beach and spending a day lazing around it was a familiar thing for me. Then, THIS happened:

Scene: Purple Turban, Mushan, Swedish Uncle, and Swedish Aunt invited me to swim in the beach with them.

Mushan: Come in the water! It's lovely!

The Adik obliges, comforted by the fact that a beach in Sweden is pretty much like any other beach she has visited. She wades in the water.

The Adik: AIEEEEEEE!!! IT HURTS!!!!!!! TOO COLD!
Swedish crowd: Just jump in, it will hurt less.
(The Adik jumps in, rises from the water. Her eyes go wide with terror and she starts screaming at the top of her lungs)

The Adik: JELLYFISH IN THE WATER!!! JELLYFISH IN THE WATER!!! EVERYONE GET OUT!!! (starts running to the shore)

Swedish crowd: No! come back!
Mushan: They don't sting, see? (picks up jellyfish from water)
The Adik: o.O
